A mobile network is a radio system that allows multiple mobile devices to communicate with each other.

The Finnish company presented a smartphone, the distinctive feature of which is simultaneous support for two SIM cards and an operating system Series 40(cut version of Symbian)

Nokia Asha 309 is an affordable touchscreen phone. Functional support is comparable to . But of course the hardware component is more than modest.

Frame

The case is plastic with metal buttons. For a closer look at the “bumps and bulges,” watch the video below.

Screen

The 3-inch screen with a resolution of 240 × 400 pixels boasts fairly good viewing angles. The sensor is resistive, but even a light touch is enough for a click. The screen is not the worst for this price.

operating system

We are dealing here with Nokia OS, supported by 64 MB of RAM. This OS is easy for everyday tasks (calls, SMS). Due to the great similarities between Nokia OS and Symbian OS, Symbian lovers will appreciate and master the new operating system. Keep in mind that this platform can in no way compete with the market leaders. It's just a different segment. Any comparison with Android and or is inappropriate

SIM cards

It was noted that Nokia Asha supports two SIM cards. Interestingly, the single SIM slot is located on the side, so it can be hot-swapped. Can store profiles for up to five different SIM cards. As is often the case with phones that support two cards, the user can freely switch between numbers without turning off the phone.

Battery

The battery power is of course not very large, but for the Nokia Asha this is not critical. Since it does not consume very much, then The battery will last for 5-6 days, during which you make dozens of phone calls and write many text messages. A nice fact is that the phone can be charged using a MicroUSB port, rather than a standard “pin” typical for cheap Nokia models

Internet

Has built-in Wi-Fi. Websites take a very long time to load, and due to the relatively low resolution and small screen, you can forget about a comfortable Internet experience. On a positive note, there is the addition of Nokia Internet Radio. This feature works quite well and definitely stands out from others.

Camera

There's not much to talk about, only 2 megapixels. And, therefore, it will not be possible to surprise or please. In good lighting, you can get photos of acceptable quality.

conclusions

is a good touch phone designed for undemanding users who wants to get a cheap touch phone for calls and SMS. In a sense, this is a phone for those who simply hate smartphones, with their ubiquitous synchronization and cloud.

Battery model: BL-4U

works adequately, without brakes or freezes. good sound, normal camera for a 2 MP camera, you can even take pictures of texts and then understand what is written there, fits comfortably in your hand, nice in appearance, no brakes, works even with large memory cards for a touchscreen smartphone with a rather large screen, it holds the charge just fine, good headset included It even works with a computer as headphones and a microphone. Large touch buttons are easy to hit, so after getting used to it a little, printing is convenient. There is a pre-installed email client that works very adequately with all mail.

It is comfortable to hold with one hand even when typing. Sensitive screen. High-quality sound from the speaker. The video from the Internet shows well without any brakes.

Build quality, sturdy, price, ease of use, responsive sensor, 40 free games as a gift, and I just didn’t expect to see an accelerometer

Good photo quality for 2 MP. Works for a long time without recharging. Wi-Fi. Sturdy body. Java application support.

Personally, I am satisfied with almost everything.

Loud speaker, you can cut off the music on the call, comfortable desktops, the standard browser is convenient, good vibration alert (I just use it in the morning and wake up with an alarm clock), wastes little Internet traffic, user-friendly interface and beautiful design)

    just a good phone!

The speakers are excellent. Doesn't freeze. Long battery life.

Very high quality in terms of reliability and durability... + Convenient, accessible interface + For almost 2 years without film, the screen is like new, only one small unnoticeable scratch (stupidly, I carried the keys with the phone once)

high-quality and strong, a 3 meter closet fell from a cabinet but did not break

Very inconvenient system for creating playlists.
Only the music player can be minimized; other programs have to be closed.
The native browser is very, very slow, about 3 times compared to Opera.
You cannot remove some completely useless games (you can’t even play them without purchasing their full version)
You can't adjust the volume without unlocking the screen and swiping across the screen to remove the screen saver
with a very fast home Wi-Fi, pages load several times slower than with just your own 2.5G Internet

WI-FI works strangely, it seems like there is a connection, but it doesn’t load.

Well, except for a very small amount of memory

To surf the Internet with Wi-Fi, you need to dig into the settings. The Gallery application freezes noticeably when there are a large number of photos. Spontaneous blocking of the phone during operation. Low video quality.

There are no video enlargement functions when viewing through the player. Sound reproduction is simply terrible.

Native games and applications cannot be deleted, Opera only ran the old version, it’s not convenient to play games, and there aren’t many of them for this model, the glossy panel is already all scratched, even after the first three days of use, the camera is weak, and sometimes you need it, You can only adjust the volume when listening to music by unlocking the keyboard.
Its main drawback is the glossy panel, it not only scratches, but is also very slippery, it always falls out of your hands, in the end it turned out that the screen was broken for me, a replacement costs 2500, well, at least I won’t repair it at my own expense!

In less than two years of using the phone, the browser crashed for the second time!!! everything works fine except the Nokia Explorer browser!

    Not detected.

It happens in some applications (including native ones) or when scrolling through the menu the phone can fall asleep... the screen just turns off and you need to press the unlock button...
    - The camera is terrible, you can only take good quality pictures in good lighting (daylight), noise is guaranteed in room lighting..
    - The music player is poorly implemented, you can’t just play individual folders, just check the boxes next to the desired melody one by one. In addition, the list of available music opens in its entirety, no matter whether the music is divided into separate folders or not..

Phones from the Finnish company have always been distinguished by their reliability, functionality and attractive prices. Nokia Asha 309 is an affordable, practical phone model that costs 4,000 rubles and competes with Android smartphones. Simple mobile phones are gradually disappearing; giants in the gadget market have long been focused on producing Android devices. What can surprise the modern user with the Nokia Asha 309?

    Equipment

The device is delivered in a standard Nokia box. It only contains manufacturer logos and technical specifications. Inside, in addition to the phone, there is a charger, a battery, a headset, a micro-USB cable and a 2 GB memory card. Despite the budget, the packaging materials are quite expensive and look good. The equipment is not the main thing, so let's move on.

    Appearance

Nokia Asha 309 is sold in two color options: black and white. Regardless of your choice, the frame around the screen will be dark. The phone is made of high-quality plastic, the buttons are made of metal. The design of the device is similar to that of previous models in the line, which is not surprising. The dimensions of Nokia Asha 309 are slightly larger than those of its “big brothers”, but this increase cannot be called critical. The mobile phone fits well in the hand and is easy to operate with one hand.

Almost the entire front side is occupied by a touch display. The earpiece is located at the top; you won’t see the front camera or sensors here. There is a silver frame around the perimeter. There are two mechanical buttons at the bottom.

The top end is occupied by a charging connector, a microSD port and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. Nokia Asha 309 has support for memory cards. The entrance is on the left side, and there is also a hole for attaching a strap. On the left side there is a screen lock and volume control button. The keys are made to protrude slightly above the body.

The back cover is double-layered, which looks quite interesting. It does not collect fingerprints and scratches. The camera is located at the top, and the company logo is located just below. The speaker is located in the lower right corner. The cover of the Nokia Asha 309 (the firmware for the phone is available on the official website) is removed through a small recess. By the way, it holds quite tightly, does not play or dangle. Under it there is a battery and a standard tray for a SIM card.

The design of the phone is primarily made as convenient as possible. All parts fit perfectly, there are no huge gaps. In general, the appearance is fully consistent with the price.

    Screen

The 3-inch screen has become the main feature of the Nokia Asha 309. User reviews indicate good sensor sensitivity and excellent color reproduction. The resolution is 240 x 400 pixels. This is a capacitive display, which makes the model more interesting than the previous ones in the Asha line. The screen is pleasant to use and the interface works smoothly. The brightness is at a sufficient level; when changing the viewing angle, there is no fading or distortion of the image. There is no automatic brightness level adjustment here.

    Camera

A simple 2 MP camera is installed. Focus is fixed. It is possible to shoot in portrait and landscape modes. There are several buttons for settings and switching shooting options. There are a number of modes that allow you to make photos more original. The maximum photo resolution is 1600 x 1200 pixels. The camera is easy to use and takes average quality pictures. Video is recorded in a modest resolution of 176 x 144 pixels. The footage is saved to the phone's memory or memory card. Can be transferred to a personal computer via micro-USB.

    Communications

Nokia Asha 309 was not left without communications. Characteristics of supported networks - GSM 900/1800. Built-in Bluetooth 2.1, which has an A2DP profile, allows you to connect a wireless headset. There is also Wi-Fi, which works stably even with a weak signal.

    Interface

The basis of the phone is the redesigned Series 40 operating system. The lock screen now displays a clock and notifications about missed events. To unlock, use a finger gesture from left to right or vice versa. The desktop contains information about the network status, time, date, selected profile, battery charge level. There are also icons for accessing the phone book and other application shortcuts. Settings allow you to select the icons that will be displayed on the main screen.

Transitions between menu windows are smooth. It is possible to install themes and change the main image. The notification window always opens quickly, here you can access control of Wi-Fi and data transfer.

    Phone book

The mobile memory can hold up to 2000 numbers. A search for contacts is performed by entering the first letters of the name in a special line. By the way, searches are not performed by last name. Contacts are copied to the SIM card and vice versa without any problems. It is possible to customize the display format. One contact can be assigned several numbers, an email, a specific ringtone, and also a birthday. The length of lines should not exceed 50 characters.

    Messages

Received SMS are grouped into horizontal lists. Here you can delete unnecessary ones, save them as drafts, and also combine messages into dialogs. Dialing is done in the usual way; a contact is selected for sending from the phone book or entered manually. You can include a drawing, video, or note in your message.

The keyboard is available in two types: QWERTY and a version in which there are several characters on each key. Typing text is quite fast, despite the small diagonal.

    Autonomy

The battery has a capacity of 1110 mAh. The phone easily lasts for 5 days with average load. In talk mode, Nokia Asha 309 lasts 17 hours, the player - 54 hours. If used for short calls, a full charge lasts more than a week.

    Bottom line

The phone turned out to be functional and convenient. A sufficient volume level and good vibration do not allow you to miss incoming calls. In terms of autonomy, the phone is completely superior to many competitors in the price category.

    • attractive design;
    • high-quality display;
    • good autonomy;
    • low cost.
    • The camera takes low quality pictures;
    • no 3G.

The phone will be a good choice for those who do not want to purchase an Android device.

    Content:

Using the Nokia Asha 309 as an example, we will evaluate how convenient and practical the new affordable phones are. They cost about 4 thousand rubles, which means they directly compete with budget Android smartphones, which have fallen in price recently. It’s easy to see that simple phones are gradually disappearing; giants such as Samsung and LG, which began with a powerful attack on the affordable touchphone market, are shifting their efforts to inexpensive Android solutions, followed by less famous manufacturers from China.

The new products have a slightly lower processor frequency: 800 MHz versus 1 GHz, there is no support for 3G networks, and the 308 model also does not have Wi-Fi, but does have support for two SIM cards. They also have only 64 MB of RAM versus 128 MB for the Nokia Asha 311. The camera of these smartphones has also been simplified; it shoots in 2-megapixel resolution and records video of modest quality, only 176x144 pixels.

    • Battery Nokia BL-4U

    • Stereo headset Nokia WH-102

    • Nokia MU-37 2 GB microSD memory card

    • microUSB cable

    Design

The phone is offered in two variants, one dark and the other light. In any case, it is glossy plastic. I ended up with a white model. But the front part of the device will be light gray.

Externally, the model is similar to previously presented devices from the Asha line, which is logical. It turned out to be slightly larger than the previously tested 311th model. The dimensions of the Nokia Asha 309 case are 109.9x54x13.2 mm, weight 102 g. It cannot be said that the differences in size are very significant and critical, but if you put different phones next to each other, you can notice them.

The earpiece is located in front; there are no proximity or lighting sensors here. Below the screen you can see two bell keys. The entire front surface is surrounded by a silver frame, which encloses a black screen plane, combined with a block of mechanical buttons.

At the top end there are connectors for connecting a microUSB cable, standard 3.5 mm headphones, as well as a “thin” 2 mm charger.

On the left is a compartment for a microSD memory card, closed with a small lid. A little lower is the strap mount.

On the right side there is a flat volume button and a display lock key of the same inexpressive shape.

I liked the look of the back panel. It is two-layer, as has already been seen in Nokia phones. Under the transparent plastic, the pattern applied to the surface is clearly visible. All this looks good enough. At the same time, on a light surface, fingerprints and other traces of using the phone are simply not visible.

A 2-megapixel camera is located in the center.

The ringer speaker hole is located in the lower right corner.

The plastic cover is removed from the side. It holds securely and tightly, does not play or dangle. The panel is fixed tightly and securely, there is no play, it does not bend, as sometimes happens. Inside, under the battery, there is a standard-sized SIM card.

    Screen

The phone has a 3-inch diagonal display with a resolution of 240x400 pixels. Up to 65 thousand colors are displayed. This is a capacitive screen, in this regard the phone looks much more interesting than the Nokia Asha 305 and Asha 306. It has noticeably better sensitivity, the sensor works very well, and is more pleasant to use.

The TFT display is ordinary, it is quite bright, and the viewing angles are average. There is no inversion of colors, but the picture from the outside does not look so good. Typical behavior for an inexpensive phone. There is no sensor for adjusting the backlight, nor is there a proximity sensor.

    Menu

The Series 40 touchscreen has been thoroughly redesigned and presented in an updated form. The lock screen displays the time and date, as well as information about missed events: calls and messages. To unlock the phone, you need to swipe your finger across the display from left to right or vice versa.

On the desktop there are indicators for cellular network signal reception, battery charge, time, date, and the mode selected by the user is displayed. Icons for quickly calling contacts stored in the phone's memory, as well as application shortcuts, are displayed. In the settings section, a list of the required software is created, which will be located in the most visible place.

The screens are scrollable, except for the area with icons that the user configures at his own discretion, there is a section with all the icons in the menu, and there is also a quick transition to the call menu. The phone has themes and the picture on the desktop changes. The operating speed is normal, kinetic scrolling works in applications, although not always smoothly. At the top there is a notification line, which also includes shortcuts for quickly managing connections (data transfer, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth) and volume.

    Phone book

The phone memory is enough for 2000 contacts. A search bar is displayed at the top, which works based on the first letters of the name. Can't search for a phone number by last name. Contacts are copied from the SIM card to the phone memory and vice versa. The location for displaying data is set: phone memory and SIM card or separately. Select the display method: first name or last name.

The new contact is assigned several numbers of different types (mobile, home, work, fax, general), email addresses, a ringtone, and a web address. Indicate address, birthday, note, official name, nickname, place of work, position. There are different fields for first and last names, each offers 50 characters, that’s enough.

    Calls

The dialing menu can be accessed from the phone book or from the desktop. The numbers are large and clearly visible. The phone cannot automatically select suitable numbers. Speed dialing starts. Since there is no proximity sensor, the screen will lock automatically during a call to avoid accidental screen activation.

Simplified call list. One column contains calls of different types: missed, dialed, incoming. They are highlighted with multi-colored icons for clarity. By selecting a number, you can send a message to it, make a call, add it to the phone book, or delete it. The total duration of calls is displayed. Among the additional options, it is worth noting the conversation recording function.

    Messages and mail

Received messages are displayed in a vertical list. From here, unnecessary SMS are deleted, correspondence is combined into dialogues by default. Data is archived and messages saved on the SIM card are also opened. The number is added to your contacts list and you can call it. When typing, select a contact from the general list or enter a number manually. A picture, video, voice note, contact, or calendar entry is added to the message.

The phone has two types of keyboards. One offers a QWERTY layout, the second a variation of the standard layout with several characters on one button. The dialing speed is sufficient, the phone does not slow down. The only complaint may be related to the not very large screen diagonal.

The mail client is configured using a simple wizard that prompts you to select one of the popular servers. At the top there are icons for displaying a menu of additional functions, as well as for creating a new letter. Messages are displayed in a vertical list indicating the sender's name, the subject of the message, the date of receipt and the presence of an attachment in the text.

At the bottom there is a line with several icons: receive mail, view the folder structure, find a contact to send a letter, work with accounts. I don’t think that the device will be used for active correspondence, but the application is well designed, you can always stay up to date with events, read letters and, if you wish, nothing will interfere with answering them.

    Camera

A phone with a simple 2 MP camera with fixed focus. The interface is adapted for landscape and portrait mode. At the top left is the settings menu, the gallery opens at the bottom, then there is a key for shooting, a button to exit the menu and an icon for switching between photo and video shooting.

    Camera settings:

    Shooting mode: normal, series, timer.

    Effects: normal, sepia, grayscale, negative.

Lighting: auto, daylight, incandescent, fluorescent lighting.

    Photo resolution: 2M (1600x1200) 1M (1280x960), 0.3M (640x480 pixels).

The method for creating names for pictures is set, sounds are turned off during shooting, screen orientation is turned on, and digital zoom works.

The camera is simple, so the photo quality is of the appropriate level.

    Music

The player has a mixed playback mode, a repeat function and an equalizer, where there are only ready-made modes: normal, pop music, rock, jazz, classical. Playlists are created directly on the phone.

The album cover is displayed on the screen, indicating the track name and artist. A line is displayed indicating the duration of the song, as well as the control key. Below are settings for sorting data: current song, library: all tracks, artists, albums, genres, videos. There are also playlists here: my lists, recently added, recently played, frequently listened to.

The phone adjusts the sound when the screen is locked using dedicated keys. It's a pity, but there is no widget for managing music on the lock screen; you need to perform an additional action to go to the player menu.

The player is loud, there is enough sound reserve for various conditions. I like the sound of Nokia, the inexpensive phone performs just as well as its predecessors. Music is reproduced clearly, without distortion. If you have good headphones, then your phone may well become an alternative to an inexpensive player.

    Radio

RDS is supported; up to 20 stations can be stored in the phone's memory, which can be recorded in the device's memory, either using automatic search or entering them manually. During the broadcast, the program is recorded and stored in memory. You can also listen to Internet radio using a separate application.

    Gallery

Pictures are shown in both landscape and portrait mode. A 3x5 or 5x3 grid of thumbnails is displayed on the screen, depending on the position of the device. You can select multiple images and share them in a variety of ways: via message, email, Bluetooth, or upload to social media.

In the general gallery, there is a section with videos and an item with pictures taken using the phone camera. Watching video is possible, but the quality in this case will be very modest, given the screen resolution.

The phone works well with pictures, everything scrolls through quickly and without twitching. You can scale pictures, zoom them in using two fingers, enlarging them if necessary. There is a function to delete unnecessary files.

    Organizer

    Calendar

The start day of the week is set, you can go to the desired date, highlight today's date by looking at the events assigned to it. New events saved in the phone memory can be of several types: reminder, meeting, call, birthday, anniversary, memo. The repetition period is set: every day, every week, every month, every year. An alert signal is set.

    Alarm

Here you need to set the time when you want the alarm to go off. The trigger days are set and the signal is set. Any signal from the device memory or from a memory card is selected. In addition, the radio also turns on, but for this you need to connect headphones to the phone. There is only one alarm clock, you cannot create several.

The phone has a fairly simple built-in application for communicating on social networks - Twitter and Facebook. You can read the message feed, write something new, or view replies.

The calculator will help you perform arithmetic operations.

    The weather forecast is displayed.

There is a voice recorder that can create recordings up to one hour long, saving data both to the phone's memory and to removable media.

    The timer starts.

    Nokia Store

A store of various programs, games and other media and entertainment content. A clear and simple interface allows you to create a new account or log into an existing one, and view the list of installed applications. In addition, the most purchased applications are displayed in a separate list, which can help with the choice. Free software is also enough; a user can install 40 games on his phone, which for others will be paid, and he will receive them as a bonus when purchasing a device.

    Profiles

The phone has four customizable profiles, in each of which you can set a call melody, its volume, and a message tone. Conveniently, at the appointed time, the selected profile can be turned off automatically; you just need to set the deadline.

    Browser

The built-in browser is capable of opening even large resources; it all depends on traffic consumption. Given the small screen size, the device is unlikely to be suitable for regular network surfing, but it will help you watch the news or find some information.

The pages adapt to the screen size, scaling works, but the response speed is not very fast. You can create bookmarks, set the default access point, change the font size, there are a lot of settings.

    Cards

You can use navigation on your smartphone, but the maps are not stored in memory, but are loaded as needed. This is how Google Maps or navigation from Yandex work. However, in our case, saving the cache for working without a network connection will not work.

In addition to finding your current location, you can use the route planning function. Scaling works using multi-touch or individual buttons. The phone will find the right place, show the route for the pedestrian, marking important places on the map along the way, for example, where you need to turn.

    Communications

The phone operates on GSM 900/1800 networks. Bluetooth 2.1 supports the A2DP profile, so you can use wireless headphones when paired with your phone. There is no cable included, so if you want to connect to a PC via microUSB, you will have to purchase one. The phone can be recharged while connected to the PC. Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n works, no problems were noticed. You can set up VoIP Internet telephony, for example, Sipnet.

    File Manager

The phone claims 120 MB of internal memory. The phone worked fine with 8 and 16 GB cards. The maximum capacity for a memory card is 32 GB. The file browser helps you move and copy various files between the phone and card memory, create folders and rename them. It can sort data by name, date, format and size.

    Working hours

Official data says that the phone can work up to 1008 hours in standby mode and up to 17 hours in talk mode, as well as 54 hours as a player. The battery capacity is 1110 mAh. Usually the phone lasts for 3-5 days, depending on the load. For those who do not talk very much, for example, about 5-10 minutes a day, the phone will last more than a week.

    Impression

The phone's ringtone is perfectly audible, it has a loud speaker and a good vibration alert. The recommended retail price for this phone is 4290 rubles, the same price for Asha 308.

Nokia Asha 309 costs a little less than the most functional model in this line; the difference between Asha 311 and 309 is very small, about 300-500 rubles. In my opinion, it is more interesting to buy Asha 311, it turned out to be the most attractive option of the entire series, especially considering that the price tags are very similar, and the most expensive version has more advantages, for example, protective Gorilla Glass, more compact dimensions, comfortable buttons, better photo and video recording.

However, if for some reason you don’t like Asha 311, then Asha 309 or 308 would be a good choice. Another thing is that many manufacturers are already switching to Android, and smartphones look preferable despite all other qualities. Nokia's inexpensive touchscreen phones offer decent battery life, good sound through headphones, good call quality, and a ton of free games to download. But at the same time, it’s difficult to deny the advantages of full-fledged smartphones that cost comparable prices. Therefore, if you don’t want to buy something on Android, then it makes sense to pay attention to one of the models of the Asha family, they turned out to be pleasant and inexpensive.
