The 63-year-old head of the royal Hanoverian house, Ernst August V, as you already understood, did not appear at the wedding, but earlier said that he was categorically against the marriage of his son with a Russian bride. Ernst Sr. demands from his son that he renounce his titles and give back all the property donated to him, including the Marienburg castle, where the newlyweds went to celebrate. Only then Ernst August V is ready to make peace with his son. He explains this position by the fact that he wants to protect family property.
After the registration of the marriage, Catherine was given the title of Her Royal Highness Princess of Hanover and Duchess of Brunswick-Luneburg.
The father is not only against the marriage of the first child, but has announced that he will take legal action to restore all the assets that he transferred to his son in 2005, among them Marienburg Castle, where a religious celebration will take place this Saturday, Grünau Castle in Austria, the post of chairman of the Foundation Duke of Cumberland, and others located in Germany and Austria.
It was not easy to make such a decision, as it concerns my son. But I am compelled to do so because I am defending the interests of the House of Hanover, including cultural property owned by the House for centuries.
The prince is afraid that in the event of a hypothetical divorce between his son and Catherine, some of these valuables at home will remain in Catherine's hands. In addition, the father suggests that the marriage of Ernst August and his girlfriend cannot be considered by the Royal House of Great Britain, since the approval of the prince is necessary that future children born to the couple will not be able to claim succession to the British throne.
