Bali on the world map: where it is located, what ocean it is washed by. Bali island in Indonesia on the world map - where it is located, photos and interesting facts Bali island map distances

Before our trip to Indonesia, we read a lot about the sights of Bali, chose what to see. And so many of them have visited, so now we present you not just a list with a description of places (you will find many of them without us), but our own rating of Bali attractions with personal reviews and impressions. But there were different experiences...

We visited about twenty attractions in Bali and for each of them we have our own review. But I decided to include only 13 in the rating, because it is the damn dozen after the Balinese New Year - - that looks the most organic, don't you agree? 🙂

But less ranting, we present to you our rating– from the weakest impressions and less pleasant reviews to strong and amazing ones.

Bali attractions: from so-so to the coolest. No. 13. Goa Gajah

Caves of Goa Gajah are located 13 kilometers from Ubud and this is their main advantage. The entrance to the cave is decorated with the muzzle of a demon (and this is the second advantage of this place), in the photo of tourists it seems big and scary ... But it only seems. The cave itself is small, you can get around in a minute. Due to the convenient accessibility, there are many Chinese tourists here.

No. 12. Tanah Lot

It's just a rally on Bolotnaya, by God: there are just as many people, and under your feet - like a swamp (with snakes), shoes immediately become wet. Well, if you arrived at low tide, then Tanah Lot- just for show, and not for memories for life. Well, you can still take a photo against the background of a breaking wave.

No. 11. Palace on the water Tirtagangga

In fact Tirtagangga water palace- a very beautiful and original place. It's nice to walk through the stone labyrinth in the pond with huge fish! But due to the far location from any civilization and due to the fact that there is nothing to have fun besides this labyrinth, this landmark of the island of Bali gets such a low place.

No. 10. Besakih Temple

Yes, it is called the main temple of Bali. Yes, it often tops "What to see in Bali" lists. Yes, it is located next to the picturesque Agung Volcano. Yes, he is handsome. But nowhere have we met so many unpleasant people "grazing" near this landmark of Bali. It is impossible to approach the temple itself without passing through the barrier of the arrogant merchants and "assistants", at whom you just can't yell "Get the fuck off of us!!!" They extort money ($5) to just walk silently next to you. Otherwise, you allegedly will not be allowed close to the temple. Otherwise, you supposedly can only walk along the dirty road behind the fence, from where you can’t see anything at all. About maternal Besakih temple we have .

Attractions Bali: Besakih temple. The Balinese are very pleasant and friendly people. And they send the most rude and unpleasant personalities to Besakih temple.

No. 9. Taman Ayun

Nice place to take a walk. Very picturesque park areas, however, there are no benches. Tourists will take a lot of good photos. It's easy to get to and parking is free. The reviews are the most positive.

Taman Ayun temple on the map of Bali- at the end of the article.

Impressive in any weather.

No. 8. Taman Ujung, Palace on the Water

In fact, I was even ready to put it higher than the legendary Uluwatu Temple, but only because of the inconvenient accessibility of this Bali attraction, I put it lower.

IN Taman Ujunge you can spend a couple of hours just walking, you can make a hundred beautiful photos against the background of picturesque paths, trees, arbors. But the strongest impression is when you climb the high stairs to the observation deck and see the sea from there, bluer and bluer. An amazing sight. And yet there are few people - both tourists and locals. Reviews about this Bali attractions the most positive.

Taman Ujung Temple on the map of Bali- at the end of the article.

Not yet traveled by tourists, and this is also its charm.

No. 7. Uluwatu Temple

Another popular sightseeing in Bali, which I did not include in the top five. There are two reasons. Firstly, there are a lot of aggressive monkeys, and one of them stole and broke Zhenya's glasses. And before that, another monkey jumped on Zhenya's chest, snatching a bottle of water. But we coped with it))) And there are many such “victims”: we were in Uluwatu twice and in total we heard six times how someone squealed because of the impudent behavior of the monkeys.

The second reason is the inability to really see and get closer to the Uluwatu Temple. So here are the main photos - rocks, waves crashing against them and the surrounding nature. Very beautiful. I would stand and watch for an hour, enjoying, but no way - in ten, who will appear next to you? That's right, another cheeky macaque.

Bali Attractions: Uluwatu Temple at Sunset It's an indescribable sight! It’s a pity I didn’t see him “live”, but only in the photo: one of my glasses was stolen by a monkey, and the second we hid in a backpack so as not to lose them.

No. 6. Gitgit Waterfall

Very beautiful and powerful waterfall, which is easy to get to. Few tourists. And, to be honest, according to my reviews, I would make two fifth places, which would have two attractions of the island of Bali - Gitgit waterfall and the Tegallalang rice terraces. Look at the photo: well, how can you say which of these is more beautiful?

And also to Gitgit waterfall you can get very close and in five seconds become wet through. A wonderful, very happy feeling.

Waterfall Gitgit- one of the few attractions in Bali which are easily accessible. It is located right next to the road.

№ 5. Tegallalang Rice Terraces

Tegallalang rice terraces are located 10 kilometers from Ubud, they are very easy to get to, access to the terraces is free (which is generally very surprising for Bali). The views are fantastic. Be sure to visit them, enjoy this beautiful sight without haste, take a lot of photos. And no one will interfere with you - there are no annoying merchants or guides here. But there are some cute cafes with a view of this beautiful sight of the island.

Can't imagine if anyone can give this landmark Bali negative reviews?

Attractions in Bali: Tegallalang Rice Terraces near Ubud. Not only beautiful, but also free!

No. 4. Jati Luvih Rice Terraces

Yes, you know, Jati Luwih is the second rice terrace in the top five most impressive attractions in Bali. Getting to them is long and difficult, but when you get there ... You will see as many of these terraces as far as the eye can see! They will be everywhere, big ones, smaller ones, flooded, not flooded, so get ready to stop every 50 meters and take a photo.

Jati Luwih rice terraces on Bali map- at the end of the article.

When you see such beauty, rice will seem tastier!

No. 3. Nung-nung Waterfall

To be honest, the day we visited nung nung waterfall, I did not think that I would put him in third place in my ranking. But time has passed, and I find myself thinking that I remember this attraction most often, or rather, my feelings ...

First, because of the descent. TO Nung-nung waterfall there is such a steep staircase that you do not go down it, but run! You run at full speed towards the waterfall! That thunders somewhere out there, calling you...

And now you are close, it's time to say "secondly". It's very impressive when you see Nung-nung for the first time. It gets louder and louder, and you are already very close, there are only thirty steps left, twenty, ten and now ... The steps break off and you turn 90 degrees. Here he is!!! As in The Master and Margarita - "Love jumped out in front of us, like a killer jumps out of the ground in an alley, and hit us both at once!" Exactly such sensations were from Nung-nung waterfall. He thunders, makes noise, yells, beautiful, powerful, calls you to him, and there is no one else here except you ...

And thirdly, this is the way back, along the steep high steps, which I did not count, but my body is sure that there were 600 of them (at least I know what 300 are - climbed them in St. Peter's Church in Munich). And my heart jumped out, and pounded in my temples, and about ten stops were made. But what doesn't kill us makes us stronger, right? And then, when we were upstairs, the only thing I kept repeating was “Wow! Wow!"

Update. And a few months later we made an even steeper (in every sense) ascent - on!

Nung Nung waterfall on the map of Bali- at the end of the article.

No. 2. Mount Batur, Lake Batur and Mount Agung

All three of these sights of Bali can be seen from one observation deck. It was these views that we went to admire,. 🙂 You can drive along the road and change the angle, take a variety of photos at other viewing platforms. It is good to arrive in the afternoon to take daytime photos of Bali sights and photos of Bali at sunset.

Mount Batur, Lake Batur and Agung Volcano on the map of Bali- at the end of the article.

Bali Attractions: Pura Ulun Danu Temple on Lake Bratan. Our favorite place on the island.

You look not only at a beautiful temple, but also enjoy a quiet walk in the park, lie on the grass near Lake Bratan, admiring the mountains and the clouds sliding down from them. And then you will definitely get on a motorboat and drive around Lake Bratan, you see how the clouds touch the water, form bizarre shapes, and everything around is like it happens only in films. But now it's not in the movies, it's with you, and you feel so lucky to be in one of the most beautiful places land...

Have you ever seen clouds descend right on the water, and then reveal one beautiful place after another to you? While walking along the alpine lake Bratan, such things are possible ...

MAP OF BALI WITH ATTRACTIONS

As you understand, dear readers, all these Bali attractions we drove around on our own two wheels))) So that you can find these beautiful places, we made Bali map with attractions:

Many have heard about paradise island Bali, but not everyone can quickly find it on the world map. Bali is one of the islands of Indonesia - the largest island nation in Southeast Asia. On the map, the island is not easy to see. It is a tiny dot roughly halfway between mainland Asia (Thailand, Malaysia) and Australia. The island is bordered by the Indian Ocean on one side and the Bali Sea on the other. Pacific Ocean. Every year, thousands of tourists come here to enjoy the local hospitality, sunny weather and the azure coast.

Bali on the world map

If there is a heavenly place on planet Earth, then its name is Bali. Beautiful weather reigns here all year round, and nature never ceases to amaze with stunning beauties and delicious treats. To find out , where is Bali on the world map, just look at the globe. The island is located in the most remote part of Indonesia, and the closest mainland to it is Australia.

Bali on the world map is a tiny island located in Southeast Asia. On the one hand, the island is washed by the Indian Ocean, and on the other - by the Bali Sea of the Pacific Ocean. Every year, thousands of tourists go on a journey to enjoy Balinese hospitality, sunny weather and the azure coast.

Features of the geographical location of Bali

Bali covers an area of more than 5.5 km2. The length of the island is about 150 km east to west and about 80 km from north to south. It is located just 8 degrees south of the equator, so here the sun indulges with warm weather and a bronze tan of locals and tourists all year round. Only winter months can for a while force people to hide from the cold rains under the roof of the villas and enjoy exotic cocktails.

To find out where Bali is located on the map, you should look at the Indonesian islands in the Indian Ocean for a long time. The piece of paradise is so tiny, it's hard to imagine that it is a cultural tourist center.

The population of the island is about 4 million people, most of whom live in rural areas. But there are also quite large cities in Bali: Singaraja, Amlapura, the capital of the island of Denpasar. It is up to Denpasar that you need to watch tickets if you are going to Bali, since the island's airport is located next to this city.

Describing the island, it is impossible to keep silent about one legend, which tells about the history of its origin. It is known that the island of Bali on the world map demonstrates a conditional border between the fauna and flora of tropical Asia, as well as natural areas New Guinea and Australia. In ancient times, the Indian god Rama led a huge monkey army, which opposed the insidious spirit. The villain kidnapped the beautiful wife of Ram and did not want to give in to her husband. But the army of monkeys was defeated, and most of the warriors fell on a small island, which today is called Bali. Those who have been here at least once will confirm that there are a huge number of monkeys on the island, they are an integral part of the paradise.

How to get there

The most interesting and least expensive option to get to Bali is carried out in 2 approaches. First, you need to find a good deal from the nearest city to you in Southeast Asia. Great deals are more common to the following places: Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City, Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong. Secondly, the rest of the way can be covered on low-cost airlines.

What attracts tourists to Bali

The map of Bali is full of various sights and picturesque nature. Here are volcanoes that periodically erupt fiery lava and ash, dense tropical forests, bottomless lakes with crystal clean water, as well as mysterious caves that keep centuries-old secrets. But not only the virginity of nature attracts tourists. The main attraction of the island is surfing.

There is no bad weather in Bali, and waves of any size come up to the shores. The island has many beaches where surfers can show off their skills or learn new tricks. Below is a list of the most popular places:

1. Echo Beach is the most beloved and popular among fans of extreme sports. The original name of the beach was in honor of ancient temple which is located nearby. The bottom of the coast is flat and rocky, the wave height is ideal for swimming on the board - up to 2 meters. This place has been looked after by many surfers who come back here again and again to master new skills.

2. Keramas Beach is designed for surfers who prefer to get up early to catch high waves (the ocean calms down by seven in the morning). Trying your hand at the beach is recommended for professionals, as a wrong move can lead to a fall into the water filled with sea urchins and corals.

3. Uluwatu Beach guarantees first-class surfing at any time of the day. In addition to surfing, you can enjoy diving and eco-tourism here.

4. Legian Beach is known for the fact that a huge number of schools for beginner surfers are concentrated on it. During the day, beginners learn to balance and control the board, and in the evening, when the size of the waves increases, they can perform several tricks on their own.

5. Kuta Beach is a valuable gift for those who stand on the board for the first time. The sandy bottom will not allow a beginner to get hurt when falling, and in order to catch a wave, you do not need to swim far.

The surf season in Bali has no limits. Waves can be found here at any time and weather. Once on the island, you should not deny yourself visiting temples, water palaces, unique natural places such as Sekumpul waterfall, Batur volcano, mountain lakes Bratan, Buyan and Tamblingan.

Bali is not just a vacation spot. The ancient sages believed that the gods of all religions settled in the gorges and caves. It's an amazing feeling to be in a place that inspires people from different countries inspires confidence in yourself. Undoubtedly, Bali is one of the most beautiful places on earth.

Recreation features

It is possible to relax here quite cheaply. You can book a room in a budget hotel and only take free tours. If we talk about specific numbers, then it’s really possible to dine for only 300 rubles. In Kutu City, a budget hotel room costs $15 per night. In relation to other resorts, Bali is not a very expensive place. Prices here are the same as in other regions of Indonesia.

The largest airport Ngurah Rai is located two kilometers from the nearest city of Kuta. Among the locals, a popular form of transport called bemo. Small minibuses operate regular flights to different parts of the island. It is also possible to rent a car here.

The services of guides and tour guides are popular on the island. You can easily visit the following sightseeing tours:

  • Tour of three temples.
  • Bottom walks.
  • Motocross for beginners.
  • Elephant safari.
  • Travel on a yacht.
  • Road through the mystical north of Bali.

The island compares favorably with other resorts in Indonesia, as here every traveler is guaranteed comfortable living conditions. Amazing temples, beautiful nature and excellent beaches are concentrated in one region. Both couples with a child and active youth will be able to have a good rest.

Going on vacation, a modern tourist is trying to find the island of Bali on the world map, to get more information about this piece of paradise. Legend has it that the Indian god Rama, along with the monkey army in heaven, fought the spirit that kidnapped his wife. In the midst of the battle, part of the army fell to the ground, on the same piece of land that is today called the island of Bali.

The most detailed map of Bali with all settlements, places of recreation and entertainment (2.7 mb).

The first settlers in Bali

It is known that the inhabitants of South China were among the first to arrive here about 4 thousand years ago. The earliest written references to a small area of land refer to XIV century. The islands of Java and Bali were united by ties in the cultural and commercial fields. In the mid-1280s, a military detachment arrived in Bali from Java. Thus, the island came under the rule of the Majapahit Empire.

The birth of Balinese culture

The influence of the Majapahit empire on the island begins to wane by the 15th century. At this time, a unique Balinese culture was born that attracts travelers today. With the spread of Islam in Java, Hindus were forced to move to Bali. This period is called the era of the Great Exodus. Theatrical art, music and literature appear on the island.

Colonization of Bali

Life on the island has changed significantly with the arrival of the colonizers, the first of whom were the Dutch. In the middle of the twentieth century, power passed into the hands of the Japanese. At the same time, the national liberation movement begins in Bali. In 1945, Bali became an independent state, despite the claims of the Netherlands, demanding to recognize the authority of the kingdom. At the end of 1949, the Dutch troops left the island for good.

After the departure of the colonialists, anarchy began in Bali. The absence of its own political regime for many years led to the emergence of chaos and anarchy. In 1965, General Suharto became head of state. The emergence of a new ruler contributed to the cessation of anarchy and the restoration of the state's economy.

Bali island tourist mecca

Tourism on the island was widespread in the first half of the last century. With the coming to power of Suharto, the tourism business continued to develop. By the beginning of the new millennium, the island had become one of the most popular holiday destinations.

To find the island of Bali on the world map, the traveler will have to consider the islands of Indonesia in the Indian Ocean for a long time. A small piece of land has managed to become not only a tourist, but also a cultural center.

Bali on the world map

On the territory of the island of Bali there are a huge number of attractions, some of them were created by man, others are the creation of mother nature. But each attraction is beautiful in its own way and deserves the attention of tourists. I suggest that you get acquainted with the most interesting places of the resort, which will allow you to create your own recreation program in the future.

Some of the most striking sights are located in the eastern part of Bali, in the Karangasem area. Taman Ujung Palace is considered the most beautiful building ever built on the island. The initiator of the construction was the last king of Karangasay, the building was erected over 2 years (1919-1921) and combined the Balinese and European styles.

At one time it was the residence royal family, and served as a place for receiving high-ranking officials. In the middle of the past century, as a result of natural disasters, the palace was badly damaged and for a long time stood in an abandoned state. It was only restored in early XXI century, and now it pleases visitors with its unsurpassed view. You can visit the attraction from morning to 6 pm. The cost of the entrance ticket is 35 thousand Indonesian rupiah.

The Tirta Ganga Palace is a real maze of pools and fountains. On all sides it is surrounded by a picturesque garden. The area of the palace is 1.3 hectares. The design of structures began in the middle of the 20th century, but as a result of the most powerful volcanic eruption of 1963, many statues and foundations were damaged, and almost all vegetation was destroyed. Despite the fact that the attraction can be visited today, restoration work is still ongoing on its territory. The cost of the entrance ticket is 20 thousand Indonesian rupiah. If you decide to swim in the pool with holy water, you will have to pay another 10 thousand. Opening hours: 7:00-18:00. It is located near the natural springs of Rejas, north of the city of Amlapura.

Jatiluwi rice terraces

Terraces can be safely attributed to the number of the most interesting places in Bali. In 2012 they were recognized world heritage UNESCO. The fields are located on the southern side of Mount Batukau, at an altitude of about 850 m. Jatiluwi terraces occupy 330 hectares, and about 400 people are involved in their cultivation. Some of the terraces are over 1,000 years old, and the local rice is known for its special flavor and is much more expensive. All fields are processed manually, and thanks to climatic features region, the crop can be harvested several times a year.

The terraces began to attract the first tourists at the beginning of the 20th century. It was during this period that the construction of the Dutch castle of Petani Temple took place, to which people came from all provinces of the island. To date, the terraces are being developed and improved, parking, restaurants, and other infrastructure facilities have been specially equipped for guests. You can visit this place during the day, for the entrance to the village you will need to pay 15 thousand rupees.

Monkey forest in Ubud

Among the main attractions of Ubud is the Monkey Forest. Its inhabitants feel like full owners of the territory. Therefore, if you decide to get acquainted with these, at first glance, cute monkeys, put all valuables away. During the walk, you can feed the monkeys, the food is sold by the park employees.

Within the forest is the temple of Pura Bukit. It is so old that its walls and columns are already covered with moss, but this does not prevent services from being held on its territory. The cost of visiting the attraction is 30 thousand rupees, it is open from 8:30 to 18:00. Address: Jl. Monkey Forest, Ubud, Kabupaten Gianyar.

Temple Pura Tanah Lot

The name of the temple can be translated as "land in the sea", and all because of its unusual location. The fact is that there is a landmark on a rock, surrounded on all sides by water. It is possible to approach the temple only at low tide. It is the most recognizable and visited in the resort. This is one of the few places where you can walk around without national Balinese clothes.

Based on the legend, the construction of the complex dates back to the 15th century. And its walls guard Poisonous snakes from uninvited guests. Within the temple there is a spring with healing water, during his life every Hindu should take at least a couple of sips from it. Near the attraction there are 2 observation decks, which offer stunning views of the surroundings of the island.

You can visit the temple at any convenient time, but it is better to come here closer to sunset, as at this time it is shown in all its glory, plus the heat on the street begins to subside. The cost of the entrance ticket is 30 thousand rupees. It is located 22 kilometers from Kuta.

uluwatu temple

The temple is one of the largest in Bali. It is located in the southwestern part of the island, south of Denparas. Uluwatu was founded in the 11th century by Saint Mpu Kuturana. It is located on the very edge of a cliff at an altitude of about 90 meters. The large temple complex includes 3 temples. There are gates at the entrance to each.

Until the beginning of the past century, the complex could only be visited by members of the royal family. Today, even guests of the country can see it. However, you should not come here during religious events, as the doors of the temple will be closed. From all sides the complex is surrounded by a forest inhabited by monkeys. As a sign of respect for the holy place, cotton belts are handed out in front of the entrance. After sunset, a performance begins on the territory of the temple - the Kechak dance (lasts 1.5 hours). The entrance ticket costs 30 thousand rupees, with a dance - 70 thousand.

Bratan Lake and Pura Ulun Danu Temple

These attractions are located in the central part of the resort, at an altitude of about 1.2 kilometers above sea level, surrounded on all sides by a mountain range. Pura Ulun Danu was built on the shores of Lake Bratan. It was built in the second half of the 17th century by order of King Mengwi. There is a legend among the population that the one who plunges into the lake will remain young and live for many years. That is why Balinese and tourists come here every year, even from the most remote corners of the island.

temple complex Pura Ulun Danu includes several temples, partly located on small islands. The main temple consists of 11 tiers and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. You can get to it through a small bridge. The complex is open from 8:00 to 18:00, the cost is 10 thousand rupees. On the shore of the lake there is a small amusement park that allows you to swim in boats or canoes, as well as engage in water sports sports.

Holy spring and temple of Tirta Empul

The temple complex is located within the village of Tempak Siring, near the city of Ubud. Its construction dates back to the end of the 10th century, during the reign of the Varmadeva dynasty. Near the complex there is a lake, which is filled with holy water from the source. Based on the legend, the spring was formed by Indra for his warriors, who gained strength after bathing to fight Mayadanava. For at least 1000 years, people from all over Bali have been coming here to take a dip in the holy waters of the reservoir. Several baths for purification were equipped on the territory of the temple. Anyone can fill bottled water and take it with them. Swimming is best after visiting the temple, as wet ones will not be allowed into its territory. It is open during the day, the entrance ticket costs 15 thousand rupees.

Safari and Marine Park

This is a whole entertainment complex located on a vast territory. There is a large water park, a recreation area, an amusement park, a Balinese theater, restaurants, a hotel, and a Safari Park, within which a natural habitat has been created for animals. The park is home to about 50 species of fauna brought from Africa, India and Indonesia.

There are 2 aquariums in the marine park. In one, you can get acquainted with the inhabitants of freshwater reservoirs, in the second - marine ones, among which there are even dolphins. The park regularly hosts shows with animals, their visit is included in total price ticket. The cost of visiting starts from 880 thousand rupees, the price depends on what services and entertainment will be included in the walk. It is located near the city of Ubud and is open from 9 am to 5 pm. You can book an excursion to the safari park.

Volcano Batur

I would like to note right away that Batur is an active volcano. It is located in the crater of another ancient volcano, there is also the lake of the same name - the largest in Bali. On the coast of the reservoir there is an ancient settlement of Bali Aga. There are also hot springs where everyone can bathe.

The attraction is located in the east of the island, in the Kintamani area. The territory occupies 368 km2. The height of the volcano is 1717 m. In 2012, UNESCO included it in the Global Geoparks of the World program. Everyone can climb to the top of Batur, the ascent takes about 2 hours.

Climbing before dawn is especially popular. For confidence and reliability, you can take a guide with you. The Balinese will guide you through the fastest and safest route, and if necessary, help you carry your things. At the top there is an equipped observation deck and a small cafe with light snacks and drinks. The ascent to the volcano itself is free, you only need to pay for the services of a guide. Their cost depends on the company you apply to. You can order an ascent to the Batur volcano on this site.

Sekumpul waterfall

Sekupmul consists of 7 beautiful waterfalls. The road to them passes through the jungle, along the way there are several observation platforms from which views of all water streams. The attraction was opened for visiting only in 2010, from a close distance it will be possible to see only 2 waterfalls, access to the rest is still closed.

The height of water discharges is about 80 meters. Sekumpul is located in the northern part of Bali near the village of the same name, you can walk from it to the waterfalls. Despite the fact that the water streams do not dry up during the year, it is better to visit this place during or after the rainy season, during this period the waterfall reveals itself in all its glory. It is best to come here from morning and o'clock until 3 pm. Free admission.

Attractions on the map

I marked all the above places on the island of Bali on this map.

It is best to explore the surroundings of Bali by car, as the distances on the island are quite large. The car can be rented on the site. This is a reliable international company with a large selection of cars and the best conditions rental.

As you can see, there are plenty of attractions in Bali. Each of them has its own theme, which allows you to choose the best place to visit for each tourist. Almost all sights can be visited both independently and as part of excursion groups.
