Corners for fixing tiles. Indoor and outdoor decorative corners for ceramic tiles

Ceramic tile is a completely self-sufficient facing material. But ceramics often cannot do without additional decorative and functional elements. One of these helpers that enhance visually and operationally tiles are tile corners, which are also called layouts and trims. Their task is to hide possible tile defects, protect corners and simply decorate the cladding.

Tile corners cannot be called an uncontested way of decorating and protecting. In many cases, it is more expedient to cut the tiles - grinding the corners of the plates at an angle of 45 degrees. This is more time-consuming work, which is more expensive, but the result looks much more solid. special meaning pruning acquires when using high-quality expensive tiles - the corners against the background of stylish ceramics look faded and / or unnatural. But, firstly, far from all consumers have “grown up” to the bar (many simply do not fully appreciate its decorative value), and, secondly, trimming is an alternative to corners only when decorating outer corners. Therefore, the layout for tiles is still the undisputed leader in the construction of joints.

Corners for tiles are divided into types according to purpose and material. So, there are trims:

  • internal;
  • outdoor;
  • for stairs.

On sale there are corners from:

  • plastic;
  • metal.

Inner corners for tiles

This option is not very popular. The reason is that the internal corners between walls or walls and the floor look presentable even without layouts. In fact, many consumers and tilers rightly believe that internal trims even spoil the picture. They make sense when designing the joints of the bath and the wall, although more often a wider skirting board competes with them here. However, this is a layer of the industry, and you need to understand the device and the rules for installing internal corners for tiles.

Of all the types of layouts, these have the most complex "relief". The design of the corner is:

  • concave face;
  • rib with perforation (for high-quality adhesion of glue to tiles);
  • groove for tiles.

Mount the inner corners after facing one of the walls. The finished wall is necessary so that the trim can be led behind the tile. However, tilers often simplify the task: they cut off the back of the corner and “plant” the front on silicone. This can be done after the completion of the facing work. Thus, there is no need to trouble yourself with visual problems - decorative elements interfere a little when assessing the coincidence of seams on adjacent walls. But to cut the layout or not, as well as to use the inner corners for the tiles or do without them - this is a holivar question, the answer to which is different for everyone.

Outdoor corners for tiles

External corners in decorative and operational terms are more demanding on the use of additional elements. If you don’t make a bite, there is only one worthy option left - the outer corner for the tile. Without using either one or the other, you can not get a beautiful lining; tile overlap looks ugly in most cases.

Structurally, the outer layout is slightly simpler than the inner trim. The most popular sizes: 7-11 mm. The length of the standard element is 2.5 m.

Installation of external corners

Unlike internal corners, external ones are almost always mounted only in the standard way; trimming and mounting on silicone is not practiced (the exception is profile repair). This is logical - the outer corner usually has a shape that does not involve minting with any composition. The order of work is also not similar: very rarely the editing of trims is left for the final. It is possible, but difficult, to calculate the distance between the lined walls (under the corner). A small mistake can lead to a complete overhaul. Therefore, it is much more reasonable to mount in the course of work.

So, the outer corner is attached to the extreme row of tiles. You need to use the layout of the appropriate format. If it is not possible to purchase a corner of the desired size, it is better to buy a slightly larger one. Smaller is not needed - the tile will not go into the groove. Although in this case there is a way out. It consists in deepening the grinder on the back side of the tile to the width of the layout. A slightly larger corner will require an excess of glue. It will not hit your pocket, but it will force you to tinker with styling, since you will have to use a comb (notched trowel) of a different format.

You can lead a corner behind the tile on both sides: the perforated part to the finished cladding or to the future one. The first option is recommended. The second is resorted to in those cases when, for some reason, they did not clean the edge tile from glue or, moreover, from cement-sand mortar. In order not to perform time-consuming cleaning, you can turn the trim upside down.

Direct installation of the outer corners consists in applying glue to the trim and / or to the back of the tile. It can be difficult for beginners to decide on a layer, but the recipe is always the same: it is better to spread more than vice versa. The plastic mixture will find its way out of the joints in any case, but the lack of glue is fraught with voids and almost guaranteed destruction of the tile. The perforation must adjoin the ceramic tightly, in parallel, otherwise the working area of the corner will be curved, and it will become impossible to place a perpendicular tile.

Even if the tiles are laid on the mortar, the joints should be minted with tile adhesive. The solution does not have the necessary plasticity, and it is difficult to guess the right amount. A lot of the mixture - the tile will not fall, a little - even worse, there will be a void under the tile.

Cutting outer corners

Shortening the corners is easy, cutting the working edge is not very. To join the layouts, you need to cut one of the sides of each at an angle of 45 degrees. It is best to cut with a miter box. Trimming "by eye" is possible, but requires more skill, otherwise the clearance between the trims is inevitable. The most difficult thing is to cut the outer corners, which are mounted both vertically and horizontally. In this case, special skill is needed. If a similar problem arises during the installation of plastic corners, the joint is obtained in the format of a recess, which is subsequently rubbed with a fugue. The nature of the metal layouts also contributes to another variation - one of the elements is cut off with an overlap, which, after the glue has set, is carefully bent with a hammer and finished with a grinder.

Some, more expensive, corners come with end caps that effectively mask a wide joint - this the best option. In this case, complex pruning is not needed, and the result is much more impressive.

Profiles are cut with a hacksaw or angle grinder. The grinder is much easier and faster, but it excludes the use of a miter box. Therefore, a power tool is appropriate for a straight cut and, if an eye is trained, when installing metal corners.

Sometimes, when working in a room with a future suspended ceiling, mounting the corners on a column or semi-column, they do not cut off the excess - they leave it for themselves or other workers for later. Precise trimming is considered the norm - if the ceiling lies on the tile, it will be very inconvenient to trim the trims. The same applies to gender.

Stair corners

Corners for steps carry meaning depending on the type of layouts, the nature of the tiles and the purpose of the stairs. Sometimes the elements are necessary, sometimes, on the contrary, they interfere. They are of two types:

  • invoices;
  • with groove, perforation and facial area– similar to those we have already described.

The task of overhead corners is to provide slip resistance. On the porch, they are simply necessary, regardless of whether the surface of the tile is smooth or rough. Water and snow reduce tread traction, so an extra anti-slip element is the norm. You need to understand that on the stairs, any secondary structure both helps and hinders at the same time. By acquiring a good grip, we reduce the working potential of the steps. Corners contribute to the concentration of moisture at the joints, which destroys the stairs in the autumn-winter period. To increase the life of the stairs, it is recommended to make gaps between the corners for water to drain.

The corners of the type already known to us, unlike overhead ones, perform a rather decorative function. How beautiful it is is the question. But such layouts in the end, in most cases, do not contribute to the durability of stairs. The reason for this, again, is the liquid and the decrease in the solidity of the steps. Although there is a functional plus - the corners protect the joints from chips, taking part of the load on themselves.

Corners of other types

There are many options for profiles of other types. All of them come down to the design of thresholds and joints of dissimilar materials. Since corners are almost always mounted mechanically, you need to work carefully so as not to damage the tile - usually you have to drill the vulnerable edge of the tile.

"Upgrade" corners

Tastes are changeable, corners sometimes break... Sometimes repair of profiles is inevitable. The question is how to perform it painlessly. The layouts are tightly embedded and become one with the tiles, so you should work very carefully so as not to damage the fragile ceramics.

There are two ways to replace the corner: completely remove the trim or cut it partially. The first, of course, is much more time-consuming. Especially when it comes to metal elements (they break mainly on steps). The grinder should destroy the visible part of the corner as much as possible, after which you need to carefully clean the surface of the tile from the glue that holds the remnants of the profile. If the trim was mounted using self-tapping screws, the task is simplified.

If it is possible to partially remove the old corner, it is better to use it. In this case, you need to cut off only the visible part of the layout for the tile, after which a new corner can be glued. We said that the outer trim of the convex format is not mounted on the mixture, but this is just the exception.

The conclusion is simple: in a private interior, if you already have to spend money on tiles (and where without it?), It is better to decorate the joints with high-quality corners or perform a bar. Cheap options only make sense in technical rooms.

It is difficult to imagine a modern renovation that did not use tiles. And the bathroom space, even if it is small, with a shower cabin or a full-fledged bathtub, is unlikely to be able to fully function without high-quality laid tiles. Tile corners give the room a unique finished look.

Correctly laying tiles is not an easy task, they usually use the services of specialists, but even a little building skill and a great desire will help to easily cope with such a task.

Not always everything depends on the skill of the master or the quality of the tile, because it is not in vain that they say that the king is made by the retinue. In this case, it is Additional materials, contributing to giving an excellent appearance and additional guarantees to your repair. It is worth considering that sometimes even the presence of a small detail inbathroom on the corners, can fundamentally affect the interior of the room.

We will talk about the corners that are used when laying tiles in the bathroom. Such a profile is needed for aesthetic and high-quality joining of tiles on external and internal corners. There are, of course, other ways to connect tiles at external corners (cutting tiles at an angle of 45 degrees, regular joining and grouting), but they are not so effective and beautiful.

Types of corners for tiles: external and internal

6 reasons to use corners when laying tiles

  1. It simplifies the process of laying tiles at the corners, because when using such fittings, it is not necessary to trim each tile at the joints in the corner area.
  2. Connecting the tiles at the outer and inner corners is associated with a decrease in its thickness, since each tile must be cut at 45 degrees (as in the photo). This negatively affects the service life of such a product in the future, since along the edges
    tiles will be small.
  3. A cut tile along the outer corner is fraught with the potential for bruising not only for children, but also for adults. Considering that the floor in the bathroom can be slippery from high humidity, the risks increase even more, because even a small oversight is enough, and you can easily get injured. An external corner with a PVC profile installed partially removes this issue.
  4. When installing a profile in the bathroom, the waterproofing properties of the tile are significantly enhanced, since moisture does not get into the seams between the tiles and chips and mold do not appear.
  5. The strength of the wall increases, because the corner acts as a link between the rows of tiles.
  6. With the use of such a reinforcing and decorating element, the aesthetic design of the bathroom wins.

Types of corner fittings

To decorate the joints between the wall and the bathtub or shower cabin, a self-adhesive border is used, which also protects the seams well from fungus and mold.

Corner decoration is internal and external. Internal corners are products of a concave shape, designed for neat joints of internal corners. This device perfectly protects against fungus, mold, aggressive detergents.

Important: when choosing a corner for a tile that has discrepancies in color (for example, part of the wall at the top is light, at the bottom it is a little darker), do not start from the color of the wall. Fittings in a neutral or metallic color will look more aesthetically pleasing.

aluminum cornerDue to its reliability and neutral color, it can well connect those parts of the corner zone where tiles of two or three tones are used, and where a colored plastic corner cannot cope. Also, the color of the aluminum fittings goes well with the metal elements of the shower stall.
PVC cornerPlastic (PVC) (pictured) corner is made of PVC profile, the color range is the widest. This material is characterized by lightness, flexibility, water resistance.

Due to the small mass of PVC products, they can be glued to the silicone sealant at the junction even after laying the tiles. They are also indispensable when installing a shower stall.

Ceramic cornerThe ceramic corner is the same in function as the corners made of another material: ceramic corner seam masking, waterproofing, surface decoration. The ceramic corner is not very costly and usually comes as part of a certain collection of tiles (pictured).
metal cornersBathroom corners for metal tiles are durable and reliable. metal corner for tiles For the qualitative performance of their function, they must be perfectly even, since even a slight misalignment will lead to a violation in the masonry finish.
They are made from stainless steel. Such bathroom corners are painted in golden, silvery tones, which often matches the color of the shower cabin. You can often find a chrome or nickel-plated surface of such products.
Accessories for decorSuch a profile is made of PVC of different color palettes, designed to hide the seam and significantly improve the tiled wall, it can be self-adhesive. They can finish the joints of the shower cabin with the wall. It is also rational to use in places where the fixed part of the screen from the shower cabin and the sides of the tray or bath are fastened.

External corners - this is an additional reliability of the corner protruding part at the junction, its aesthetics. As for the material, the corner can be plastic (PVC), metal, ceramic. The consumer chooses exactly the type that is suitable at this stage of repair work.

Tip: choose a corner, both plastic and ceramic, a little thicker than a tile. The difference should be about 2-3 mm. If the difference is too small, then the tile will not be able to enter the corner.

How to mount the outer corner

For the installation of fittings for external corner structures, it is necessary to adhere to the following order:

  1. Cut off the required length of the outer profile for the bathroom, attach to the corner of the wall (temporarily).
  2. Insert tiles into the grooves on both sides, try them on, put marks and put everything aside.
  3. Apply glue to the corner area, “plant” the profile on it, follow the mark.
  4. With a notched trowel, apply and spread the adhesive on the tile, insert it into the groove of the corner, press it against the wall with the profile.
  5. With the second tile (on the other side of the corner), do the same.
  6. Clean the outer surfaces of the solution, wipe the tiles dry.
  7. Strengthen both laid tiles with a corner, be it even plastic, metal or ceramic, using masking tape (until the glue dries). This will take approximately a day.

Installing an internal profile

In order to beautifully decorate the inner corner of the bathroom, use the inner corner. For his quality installation proceed in the following order:

  1. Buy a profile that is larger than the thickness of the tile.
  2. Move in the process of laying tiles in the direction of the inner corner.
  3. Apply adhesive to the tile that will be joined to another in the corner area.
  4. Cover the wall with the necessary amount of glue, install the internal profile.
  5. Insert the tile into the groove, glue it, and to keep the distance from the previous one, wedged the seam.
  6. By analogy, act with tiles on the other side of the inner corner.
  7. Carry out styling the right amount rows. Decorate the top row with a finishing profile (if necessary).
  8. A day later, process the seams with a decorative one.

Whichever corner you choose: PVC, ceramic, metal - anyway, it will be able to bring the feeling of an expensive high-quality repair to the bathroom interior.

Today I'll show you how to install decorative tile corners on an outdoor tile corner. In my opinion, this design of the corners makes them not only more beautiful, but also safer to use. I advise installing outdoor decorative corners on all protruding corners and partitions that can be potentially traumatic.

Framing a single slope

And we'll start by framing a single slope. We chose a plastic corner in silver. When choosing, it is important to consider the height of the corner cavity. It is better to purchase a corner into which the tile will go slightly.

For example, with a tile thickness of 8 millimeters, the height of the corner cavity should be 9 mm. In this case, the corner can close the irregularities of the tile or its cut edge.

I note that this is not the only way to join the corner and tiles, but I use it.

Let's apply a corner and a tile on dry. The inner side of the slope will also be framed by tiles, but this tile will fit the corner on the other side.

When I have glued all the tiles on the inside of the slope, I will put the corner exactly on their end.

WITH reverse side corner has a small recess, and it hides the edge of the end tile. So I expose the corner to the entire height. At the top I will do the necessary trimming.

Since this wall is made of gypsum fiber, I temporarily fixed the decorative corner with self-tapping screws. The corner of the doorway will also be framed on top, so I sawed the corners at 45 degrees.

I draw your attention, this one must be done very accurately. How to cut a 45 degree corner? Well, of course, for this you need to use a miter box. It already has the 45 degree angles we need.

Sawing corners with a hacksaw for metal. Unlike metal, I cut plastic corners with a blade without a hacksaw - it’s easier for me to control the pressure and make a neat cut.

Let's go back to our corner. Let's put the tile on the other side and see how it looks.

As you can see, the tile slightly went into the corner.

The corner will not only protect the tile from chipping, but will also allow you to hide the cut part there if necessary, and such situations happen, and I will talk about them a little later.

And now we will mark the attached tile for trimming. We apply the cut line so as to take into account one tile seam.

I've cut the tile to the design and am ready to place it in the corner, but if I try to place it with the cut edge, I'm in for a surprise - the tile can't go into the corner as before when I put it in with the factory edge. In addition, because of this, the tile seam narrows, the place for which I left. The reason is that the width of the edge of the tile in the cut part is greater than from the factory edge. And this is easy to check if you insert the tile, as we originally measured. In this case, we will get the desired tile seam.

What should we do to hide exactly the cut edge of the tile? And for this we will put a mark on its upper part to the width of the corner. At this mark, we should slightly cut off the back surface of the tile, in other words, make this edge a little narrower.

I use a sandpaper bar for this purpose. It is enough to remove 1-2 millimeters. After such processing, the cut edge will go deeper into the corner and hide its flaws.

Gluing corner and tiles

Now you can start gluing the corner and tiles. Not at first a large number of I put glue in the slots in the corner.

With a spatula, I carefully press the glue. Note that there should be no excess glue on the corner.

Before gluing the tiles, I will check that there is no excess glue on the corner. Surplus can be safely removed so that they do not prevent the tile from entering the corner.

And now I carefully glue the tiles. First you need to move it a little forward so that it enters the corner. Then I firmly press the tile to the wall, do not forget to put distance crosses from below.

I will check how tightly the corner is pressed against the end tile. The tile of the second row is installed, and its cut edge is securely closed.

This is what a decorative corner with pressed tiles looks like.

I did the same on the other side of this ledge. Here, too, the outer corner of the tile is decorated.

All subsequent tiles are installed in the corner according to the same scenario.

As I climb up, I unscrew the screws that held the corner.

For insurance during drying, you can tighten the corner of the tile with adhesive tape.

So neatly and slowly laid out decorative corners, protected by a decorative corner.

Double slope edging

And now we will analyze the features of framing with the corners of a double slope. I'll show it on the end of the shower screen. First of all, the walls of the partition must be made strictly at right angles. Such a check over the entire height must be done using a square.

For the left and right sides, cut out the decorative corners of the desired height. We press each corner with a recess to the side wall. With the help of adhesive tape, we temporarily fix it in this position. We do the same for the second corner.

When the corners are fixed, you can do the tiles. The slope end is primed. And I cut out a template from the tile, which will be installed between the corners in this way.

Here the tile should go into the corner a little on both sides, so from the side of the cut edge, I initially turned the back of the tile.

Let's start laying tiles. To begin with, I coat the holes in the corners.

It does not require a large amount of glue, but all holes in the corners must be covered. The space between the corners must also be leveled with glue.

Now we set up the first template tile. Once again, I remind you that on the reverse side, I slightly undermined the back of the tile so that it easily went into the corner. In fairness, I’ll say that you can not do this, and install the tile without inserting it into the corner, but align it along its edge. Personally, I prefer the first option.

Now we will deal directly with gluing the tiles. Here you will have to apply glue to the tile. It should be slightly more liquid than usual - this will make it easier to position these pieces. Next, a notched trowel and grooves. We already know this.

Gently apply the tile to the end of the partition. This will open up the corners a bit.

Install spacers.

And now we will carefully press the tile to the wall, and the corners to the tile on both sides. The exposed adhesive must be removed. When installing the first template, you must clearly look for the divergence of the corners and prevent it. If there are no side gaps, we will grab this entire structure with adhesive tape.

We continue to apply glue and close the holes in the corners. Equalize the gap between the corners with glue. We are preparing the next tile template according to the same scenario. And again a toothed trowel with a tooth of 6 millimeters. Adding a second tile. If necessary, we part a little corner. We press the tile and tightly bring the corners together. If everything is done correctly, then there should not be any gaps in these places. Let's install a remote cross here too, one is enough.

I prefer to remove excess glue immediately. We fix this part for the drying time.

So we installed several tiles on the end. I pay special attention to the snug fit of the corner to both sides of the partition.

To glue the last tile, remove the temporary tape at the top. We have one last step.

In this form, we leave the end of the partition for a day to dry.

If the preparatory work was done correctly, the corner will look perfect.

Do not forget to also check the convergence of the seams and, if necessary, somehow correct this.

After jointing, the seams in this place look like this.

The snug fit of the corner makes the design visually complete and beautiful. We have finished installing the decorative corners in this bathroom and as you can see the result is pleasing.

Ceramic material is the most famous and practical for finishing work. Actually, for this reason, tiled coatings are found on walls, floors and even ceilings, mainly in those rooms where there are temperature changes and high humidity. However, in order for the room to look perfect, one tile is not enough. That is why at the final stage of the repair, external corners for tiles and other elements are installed.

Benefits of tile corners

Tile corners are not prerequisite when tiling, but they are necessary to eliminate irregularities along the edges of the tile, as well as a functional component.

In order to understand the full benefits of an outdoor tile corner, it will be useful to consider its advantages:

  • The ability to design complex geometric planes. When installing tiles at an inclination of 45 °, the use of a corner will allow you to complete the work without sawing the canvas.
  • Closing uneven edges and flaws in tiles. The cut, processed with a corner, looks perfectly smooth and even, respectively, general form becomes much more attractive.
  • visual perception. Facing, finished with the installation of corners in a contrasting shade, looks very neat.
  • Reliable waterproofing. When using a corner, water will not be able to seep into the joints between the tiles, respectively, the occurrence of mold and fungus becomes impossible. This moment significantly extends the life of the cladding.
  • Safety. If suddenly someone slips on a wet floor, the presence of corners of an untreated tile will lead to cuts and injuries, and the installed corners will hide these defects.

Important! If the room is decorated in the style of baroque or folklore, then the presence of corners will be an indispensable part of this composition. The process of laying tile itself is not easy, so to make the work look perfect, use the corners. If you believe the numerous reviews, then the presence of this element helps to complete the composition.

Which corner to choose for tiles

A tiled corner is required for decorating a corner zone, joining tiles, closing difficult areas, connecting plumbing with tiles, and more.

Corners come in two forms:

  • Inner corner. This element is used to connect the corner joints of the web of adjacent planes. For example, the joint of the ceiling with the wall, as well as the combination of the shower cabin with the wall. The use of a corner in this case does not allow moisture to get between the tile seams and under the tile itself.
  • Outdoor corner for tiles. This element is used to decorate wall ledges. This process is necessary because this part of the wall is continuously subjected to mechanical stress. In addition, covering the sharp edges of the tile with a corner will help eliminate the likelihood of injury to people nearby. In other words, in this case, the corner is a protective element. It can be installed both during the cladding process and after its completion.

Tile Corner Functions

Corners can be both functional and decorative, it depends on the function that it will perform.

  • Functional elements are external metal corners for tiles, tiles and plastic. All of them are able to withstand a large mechanical load.
  • The decorative corner is used only for aesthetic purposes, for example, it can be an external aluminum corner for tiles. Elements made in one or more colors will give the interior a finished look.

most accessible and fast way Corner decoration is the use of a ribbon border, but this, unfortunately, is the most short-lived method, which also does not look very nice. The most commonly used self-adhesive border. Before installing it, it is necessary to treat the surface with an agent against mold and fungi. This corner is very light, bends well and does not crack during gluing.

The materials from which the corners are made

For the manufacture of external corners for tiles, various materials are used:

  • Aluminum. This is a versatile material, the color of which goes well with almost any color and design solutions. In addition, the element is perfectly combined with interior items and metal structures. The main advantages of the aluminum outer corner for tiles are lightness, high strength, long service life, and corrosion resistance.
  • metal alloys. Almost all types of these elements are covered with gold or silver paint, there are chrome-plated corners for outdoor tiles and nickel-plated. They are considered universal and are suitable for different stylistic directions in the interior.
  • Corner for a tile external plastic. This is a very durable element, almost waterproof, with a huge selection of colors and shades, which makes it possible to use it even in the most expensive interiors Plus, it's very lightweight.
  • Ceramics. Corners for tiles can be made to look like ceramics or ceramics. In terms of aesthetics, this option is the best. Quite often, a ceramic element becomes part of a tile collection, which is why it is recommended to pay attention to this particular type.

Life time

If we compare the materials from which the corners are made, in terms of service life, then metal will come first, last place occupy plastic outer corners for tiles.

  • Corners made of metal provide good tightness compared to elements made of other materials.
  • Polyethylene borders have such advantages as ease of installation and affordable cost, however, with constant interaction with water, it will have to be changed every 2-3 years. But, according to customer reviews, this moment does not really scare them, since the low cost of the element is more important for many.
  • The advantages of corners made of ceramics include high strength, water resistance, as well as poor thermal conductivity and aesthetic appearance for many years. The disadvantages of ceramic corners include the following: high cost, installation complexity, especially if architectural compositions were clad. The appearance of a ceramic element can only be damaged in the event of an impact. After a strong mechanical impact, the tile begins to crumble and requires urgent replacement.

Factors to consider when choosing corners

In order to choose the right corner, you should follow some rules:

  • Thickness. The corners also have different thicknesses, so when choosing an element, you should proceed from the parameters of the tile. Experts recommend taking a corner 1 mm thicker than the tile itself.
  • Design features. According to the rigidity, the corners are three types: soft, semi-hard and hard. This parameter is selected depending on the complexity of the architecture. If you need to design a complex geometric or curvilinear design, then you should opt for a plastic corner, which is very easy to cut and bend. The metal corner is suitable exclusively for a flat and clear space.
  • Going to the store to pick up a corner for outdoor tiles, you should take with you a sample of the canvas that you are going to lay indoors. This will allow you to perfectly match the color of the corner.
  • When choosing a corner, try to rely on all the recommendations listed, then the installation will not bring you any surprises.

Installation of external corners

Installation is carried out only after the cladding of one of the walls forming the outer corners has been completed. The process consists of several steps:

  • Before you start facing the second wall, the groove of the corner must be brought under the tiled canvas, which will be used to cover the other wall of the room. It is necessary to pay great attention to the fact that the dimensions of the groove must strictly correspond to the parameters of the tile. Otherwise, when the groove size is smaller, it will become impossible to start it, and if, on the contrary, it is larger than the thickness of the tile, then a lot of sealant will have to be used up.
  • To make the facing of the next wall more convenient, the corner should be fixed with tape.

  • The layout of the outer corner under the tile should be carried out close to the corner, while you need to constantly check the level of its vertical location.
  • After the work is completed, it is imperative to seal the voids with acrylic or silicate glue. This must be done carefully so that there are no voids left.

slicing

Quite often, when installing the corners, you have to cut them. For example, if after laying the tiles it is planned to install suspended ceilings. After the element has already been installed, it is very difficult to trim, and if the corner needs to be installed near the doorway, then it is almost impossible to do so.

In most cases, the corners are cut perpendicular to each other for mounting. In this case, cutting is carried out at an angle of 45 °. This must be done very carefully, since the slightest deviation can lead to the formation of a gap at the junction. Careless work will lead to the formation of burrs that will not allow the corners to stand close to each other. An indispensable assistant in the cutting process is a miter box, which will provide correct location layouts at the right angle. You can cut the corners with a hacksaw for metal or a turbine.

It is worth noting that for good slicing, you need to have some skill. Therefore, the work should be done with all responsibility, carefully making all markings and measurements. If suddenly the cut geometry differs from a right angle, you should be smart.

Conclusion

Recently, the outer corners for tiles, ceramic or made of other material, have become an indispensable attribute when laying tiled flooring, since its presence gives the interior a complete look in any room. And although this element is not mandatory, most people still prefer to purchase them and enjoy the full composition.
