But when a person tries to reverently keep all the commandments of God, striving for perfection, his heart is immaculate and his eyes are pure. All this fully applies to Emperor Nicholas II. If they are God-fearing and pious, they are truly great, and it does not matter what place they occupy in life. And even if they died, they remain with the Lord. Is it possible to compare the deprivation of the earthly kingdom with the acquisition of the Heavenly one? If the Providence of God did not give your children a long life, you can still say that they have reached fullness of days and maturity, and infinitely more.

Seeing what happens, we rejoice for Job, because this is precisely his test. Job is a courageous man devoted to God. Among all sorrows, he fears God most of all, fearing sin more than any external troubles. He humbles himself under the strong hand of God and accepts God's Providence for himself. The Lord gave and the Lord took away. The One who gave took it away. And doesn’t He, by taking something from us, want to give us infinitely more!

No matter how deeply Job looks and sees the essence of what is behind these events, he does not take his eyes off the First Cause. He worships God in prosperity and in hardship. When the storm passed, he fell on his face and worshiped God. Sorrows should not remove us from true life, but bring us closer to it.

It was the same with the sovereign. When his trials came, his whole thought was only about Christ God. Look what books he reads royal family in Tobolsk and Yekaterinburg, what notes they leave in the margins of books. What depths of God’s mysteries are comprehended: “The evil that is now in the world will grow, but it is not evil that will defeat evil, but only love.”

Job came out of the dispute between God and Satan about him with honor. It would seem that he has passed all the tests, and nowhere can his righteousness be questioned.

But Satan goes further, seeking a new test that concerns the bones and flesh of a person: “Skin for skin, and for his life a man will give everything that he has.” People not only do not take risks, but give everything they have, all their wealth, to save their lives. Satan bases his accusation against Job on this. “But stretch out Your hand and touch his bone and flesh,” says Satan, “will he bless You?” Job holds on courageously, losing everything he has.

The Lord allows Satan this too: “Behold, he is in your hand, just save his soul” - do not touch his soul, do not darken his mind, his free will.

Job's illness was terrible: Satan struck him with fierce leprosy from the sole of his foot to the very top of his head. Instead of treating his sores, Job took a tile to scrape himself with it and sat down in the ashes. He sat on the ashes. So he humbled himself under the strong hand of God, reflecting on the terribleness and deplorability of his situation. The Slavic text of the Old Testament says that he sat on a dunghill outside the city.

None of those to whom he had previously been so kind came to him to serve him in his misfortune out of gratitude - because his illness was disgusting or because they considered it contagious. Wasn't that the case with the sovereign?

Next, Satan tries to force Job to curse God through the persuasion of his own wife. When all the comforters were taken away from Job, his wife tempted him: “You are still strong in your integrity! Blaspheme God and die,” she says. Are you really going to submit to God in everything, who for all your service to Him only beats you mercilessly? Is it possible to love and bless such a God, is it possible to serve such a God?

By the gift of Christ, the passion-bearing king had a believing wife who shared his suffering with him. But how many of those close to him, and not only high-ranking officials, turned out to be traitors! How many of us renounced God during the years of fiery trials, and there were many who came out with blasphemy against God, with blasphemy, destroying churches and desecrating shrines! (Naturally, this was followed by renunciation of the king and mockery of him.)

We hear in the crazy words of Job’s wife the blackest, most terrible satanic temptation. Nothing is more disgusting to the natural consciousness than blasphemy against God. Nothing screams more against natural feeling than suicide. Denial of God and blasphemy against Him was suicide, as life soon showed, for a significant part of the Russian people.

Job courageously resists temptation and overcomes it. He is outraged by the very idea of ​​doing this: “How? blaspheme God? Get away from me, Satan!

A new temptation befalls Job when his friends come to him. Perhaps, more than all the sorrows, the instructions of these theologians are palpable to him: “If it were not for their ridicule, then even in the midst of their disputes my eye would remain calm” (Job 17: 2). They pretend to be spiritual wisdom, but in reality they laugh at the suffering of man because he has been brought down so low.

If Job had been sincere in his faith, they say, God would not have visited him with such sorrows, and he would not have behaved this way in these sorrows. Did not all of Job's piety consist in the hope of earthly well-being? - they repeat after the devil. - If this piety had been sincere, would it not have saved him from despair?

Those who come out with harsh, loveless denunciations of their neighbors who have been visited by great sorrows, and even more so of the saints of God when they are in sorrow, are doing the work of Satan.

Job's wound is bleeding, the pain does not stop, but none of his theologian friends brought him oil, and the third of his friends poured out as much vinegar and gall as the first two. Before us is Job’s “Gethsemane” - Job bitterly complains about being abandoned by God: “Why do You hide Your face?” There is no evidence of heaven, the connection with God and with people is interrupted, there seems to be no hope that consolation will return. The Holy Spirit sometimes deserts His best and most beloved saints.

In chapter 22, Eliphaz calls Job a hypocrite, not only because of his impatience with tribulations, but also because of the tribulations themselves. Eliphaz compares Job's troubles to the common troubles of the wicked. “His children perished - this is what happens to the wicked: they leave wealth to their children, but everything perishes.”

Eliphaz accuses Job of many sins and crimes for which he believes God has punished him. He compares his case with what happened in human history with sinners who were washed away by a flood and whose wealth was consumed by fire - that is, with sodomites. Job's well-being, material and spiritual, is cut off, they say, because we are righteous.

What Job’s friends accuse him of essentially boils down to the accusations of opponents of the canonization of the passion-bearing king: “If he had been worthy person, he would not have brought a prosperous country to such a state. Wouldn't have lost the Japanese war. Godly people never suffer such a disaster.” “Remember,” they say, “whether the innocent perished, and where the righteous were destroyed” (Job 4:7). If we are talking about ultimate destruction, this is so. None of the righteous will perish forever. But if we are talking about temporary defeats, this is a lie.

Job's theologian friends present God as fighting against Job as an enemy, while God was testing him as a friend. It is dangerous to judge the spiritual and eternal state of others without love, for in this way we can condemn those whom God has justified and glorified.

Job (and with him the sovereign) says: “God has made me a byword for the people and a laughing stock for them” (Job 17:6). “Those who drink wine” (Ps. 68:13) compose offensive songs about him. His name became the talk of the town - just like the name of the sovereign. The yellow press, before which the Tsar was defenseless, invents gossip about the Tsar’s family, about Rasputin, and about the fact that the Tsarina is a German spy. And we still hear “Bloody Nicholas” or “a man of weak will.”

In the descriptions of Job’s suffering, we seem to learn in detail what the sovereign was experiencing. “My eye is darkened with grief, and all my members are like shadows.” He could say about himself: “I am no longer a man, but a shadow of a man.” He is a man of sorrows, he shed so many tears that he almost lost his sight.

We cannot help but recognize in Job’s words the great dishonor that fell on our sovereign after the great honor that the people and the Church had previously shown him. “They abhor me, withdraw from me, and do not refrain from spitting in my face” (Job 30:10). In mockery the crowds kick him: “They blame me for their grief” (that is, for the fact that they now live in such a country). They make false statements about his past behavior and policies, “knocking him down.” They treat him as a tyrant because he ruled them righteously, they are foolish in everything else, but very skillful in inflicting insults and causing new evils. And how similar to the revolution of 1917 is the description of Job’s disaster: “They came to me as if through a wide gap, rushing at me with a noise” (Job 30, 14). Like waters that flood everything when a dam is broken, or like an army that breaks through a gap in a fortress into a city and rushes with inhuman fury towards those living in it.

We see that all the contempt for Job, as well as for the passion-bearing king, is caused by the troubles in which they found themselves. “You have stripped me of my strength and taken the crown from my head,” says Job, and with him the king. Since “He loosed my bridle and struck me, they threw off their bridle before my face,” says Job. That is, after the Lord took away from him the honor and power with which he was girded, they gave themselves freedom to say and do against him whatever they pleased. They have thrown off the reins, they place his power, his royal dignity at nothing - they no longer stand with respect and awe before him as before. Everything is like with the Lord Himself: those who today shout “Hosanna!”, tomorrow can shout “Crucify Him!” But there is honor and glory that is given from God and which, if we keep it, we will find unchanged and not lost.

Job speaks of the confusion and horror of his mind as his most terrible disaster.

Job mournfully complains: “The arrows of the Almighty are within me.” What strikes him to the very heart is the thought that God, whom he loves and serves, rejects him, marking his life with signs of His wrath. The confusion and suffering of the mind that the sovereign experienced at the Dno station is equally painful suffering. When the soul is so wounded, who can bear it! Job’s spirit drinks the “poison and flame” of God’s arrows, and this plunges him into confusion, shakes his resolve, and exhausts his inner strength. He sees himself surrounded by the threats of God, just as a commander is surrounded by enemy armies on the battlefield.

Of course, Job is not only a prototype of Christ - it is about all of us. But this is precisely why the book of Job first of all reveals to us the mystery of the Cross and Gethsemane. The main point in the dispute between Job and his friends is the assertion of these theologians that the righteous always prosper and only the wicked suffer defeat. Job, on the contrary, says that as a rule, the wicked prosper, and the righteous remain in sorrow.

In the midst of his immense grief, Job believes that he will see the goodness of God in the land of the living. “I know that my Redeemer lives; I hear His breath in my nostrils. I know that on the last day He will restore this decaying skin of mine” (Job 19:25-27). Job believes in the glory of the Resurrection: the same power that created man from ordinary dirt can raise him from the earth. Because he is given the opportunity to feel this breath of Divine life, he says: “I will see God in my flesh, I myself, and not someone else.” And the insight of the passion-bearing king that “the evil that is now in the world will be even stronger, but it is not evil that will win, but love,” is consonant with this revelation of Job. Job's word to his theologian friends is a warning to those who oppose him not to persist in treating him unkindly.

The living, life-giving, all-determining principle of grace in the heart is the foundation of everything, as necessary in our faith as the root for a tree. Love for God and neighbors, faith in Christ, hatred of sin - this is the root of everything, the rest is leaves in comparison.

We believe and know that the sovereign had this root in himself, despite, perhaps, some of his weaknesses and mistakes. Those who see nothing but these shortcomings in the king, as it were, continue to participate in the persecution of him, “as if the root of evil had been found in him” (Job 19:28).

We first see Job's patience in the midst of incredible adversity as an example of patience for us all. At the end of the book, to encourage us to follow his example, we see the happy outcome of his trials, the restoration of his well-being. Perhaps the extraordinary wealth with which Job was crowned after his tribulations was not just a promise of the restoration of Russia's former power - most likely this will not happen. “Russia will be materially poor, but spiritually rich” (Reverend Nectarius of Optina). But for us this is a symbol and image of heavenly glory, which begins for the faithful already here on earth, and which we achieve through earthly suffering. He who endures temptations with dignity will receive the crown of life (James 1:12).

God asks Job to pray for his accuser friends, otherwise God will destroy them.

Let us hear this as a prophecy about our holy king and about Russia! God returned His mercy to him. What was previously dark and scary instantly appeared in a new, joyful light. All the storms are behind us, the consolation of God fills the souls of the faithful, like bitterness before. He suffered for the glory of God, and therefore God rewards him abundantly.

And look what happens to the believing people! Job's old acquaintances, neighbors and relatives were very kind to him: they cried with him in his grief and rejoiced in his joy. They turned out to be not such “pathetic comforters” as his three friends. They were not as learned and eloquent theologians as those, but they proved more skillful in consoling Job. Job prayed for his friends, and they gathered around him, overcome by his love, and all sought his prayers. Oh, if God would console our people through the prayers of the holy passion-bearing king, in accordance with the days on which He sent them sorrows!

The events of human history are mysterious, and the wisest of the sages sometimes look at what is happening around them in confusion. The purposes of God's providence turn out to be deeper and unsearchable. God performs miracles that cannot be counted. Darkness falls on the triumphant victors in the middle of the afternoon, God lifts up the humble. He places the humble in heart and those who weep in front, comforts them and allows them to live on high (Isa. 33:16). The poor who begin to despair find hope. Comfort for some in bitter trials gives hope for the best for others in the most worst times, for the glory of God is to send help to the helpless and hope to the hopeless.

"And God blessed last days Job is greater than the former.” We don't know what other good days God has in store for our end times. God always has ways to restore our losses and console our grief.

“You have heard the patience of Job, and you have seen the end of the Lord” (James 5:11). This is what the word of God tells us in the New Testament, forever placing this righteous man at the greatest heights. And we dare to assert that also our passion-bearing king, who fully participated in the feat of his, without any doubt, his heavenly patron. This feat is addressed with exceptional force to the last times. “He who endures to the end will be saved.”

One of the strongest people in Moldova, multiple winner of European and world powerlifting championships, Nikolai Job, spoke about sports nutrition and success in sports.

Nikolai Aleksandrovich Job was born on September 2, 1990 in the city of Dubossary (Transnistrian Moldavian Republic). Moldovan athlete, weightlifter, powerlifter, performing in the international sports arena. Five-time world champion (junior), eight-time European champion (junior), four-time US champion (junior), two-time International Open NAPR/RPS - 2013 junior champion, four-time Eurasian champion (junior), holder of 27 world and European records, international master of sports classes in powerlifting, powerlifting and barbell press (PMR).

Nikolay, as far as we know, you just recently arrived from competitions in the USA? Could you tell us more about what kind of competition it was and how it went?

It was the World Powerlifting Championships, which took place in Florida in West Palm Beach from November 10 to 16. I took part in the deadlift category, in the weight category up to 140 kilograms, Open category. I prepared for the competition for almost a year. In the fight for victory, I managed to take second place, despite the fact that literally 2 months before the competition I was injured.

How did you manage to do this? short term recover from injury and still take part in the championship?

Just before the competition, an old injury made itself felt. As a child, I dreamed of being a football player, but then I wanted to become big and strong. It probably started when I was 13 years old and I weighed only 42 kilograms, while my classmates weighed more than me and could literally carry me in their arms. Now I weigh 142 kilograms and can easily carry anyone in my arms. Today, sport has become for me not just a passion or hobby, today sport is my way of life, it is my life.

Some people say that sport makes them more confident, stronger, but what has it given you?

Sports disciplined me. Many people say that discipline is given in the army, but sport helped me with this - it made me who I am. Sport taught me to achieve my goals, to go towards my dreams.

Nikolay, taking into account all the loads, you probably have to follow a special regime? What is it like, if it’s not a secret?

First of all, this is a daily diet. For me it starts at 5 am with the first portion of protein - there are only 4 of them, that is, at 5 am, at 11 am, at 4 pm and the last one at 11 pm, before bed. My first breakfast is at 7 am. I eat every 2 hours, which helps me build muscle.

How do you personally perceive sports nutrition, what would you call it?

Sports nutrition is my “engine” in life. It helps me not only in sports activities, but also in everyday life. I don't feel tired and am always cheerful and full of energy.

Nikolay, and finally, what would you advise our younger generation, who are already interested in this sport? Perhaps you can reveal some secret that helped you achieve such significant results?

Let me start by saying that first you need to come to the gym. Turn to a good coach who will not let you make mistakes at first - he will put correct technique basic exercises. And the secret... The secret is hard work, systematic training, proper nutrition, enough sleep (8-10 hours) - this is the key to success. Don't be afraid to start. Believe in yourself and you will succeed!
