Department “Machine parts and lifting and transport devices. Moscow Polytechnic - educational and methodological materials Kaf TMM Polytechnic
The Department of Machine Parts was created in 1933. The Department taught courses “Machine Parts”, “Lifting and Transport Devices”, “Theory of Mechanisms and Machines”. Its first head was B.I. Shchupanovsky. Before the Great Patriotic War, he was replaced by P. S. Shchipanov.
In 1943, the united department “Theoretical Mechanics and Machine Parts” was formed, headed by Candidate of Technical Sciences Nikolai Dmitrievich Solovyov.
A new period of history began in March 1965, when an independent department of “Machine Parts and Lifting and Transport Devices” was formed. Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Mark Solomonovich Drozd was elected its head. As a student at the Stalingrad Mechanical Institute, he went to the front, and Captain M. S. Drozd had to complete his studies after the Great Patriotic War. For military valor he was awarded orders Patriotic War 1st and 2nd degrees, Red Star and many medals. In 1980, for his services in training scientific personnel and the development of scientific research, M. S. Drozd was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor. The staff of the department equipped educational laboratories for the theory of mechanisms and machines, as well as machine parts. Technical teaching aids, filmstrips, posters, and visual aids were created. Under the leadership of M. S. Drozd, graduate school began and intensive research into the laws of contact deformation of materials began. This direction has become the main one in scientific activity departments. Four graduates of the graduate school are active continuers of the department’s scientific school: Yu. I. Slavsky, M. M. Matlin, A. A. Baron, Yu.I. Sidyakin became doctors of science. The staff of the department under the leadership of M. S. Drozd and his students obtained significant results in the field of engineering theory of force contact interaction of solids. On their basis, practical methods have been created for assessing the mechanical state of materials directly in the conditions of production, installation and operation of various equipment.

Study work
The department is developing a scientific and methodological topic: “Forms and methods of organizing, managing and enhancing the educational process in disciplines and interdisciplinary connections.”
As a result of this work, a monitoring and training program was created for express assessment of students’ knowledge in the discipline “Machine Parts”. Developed and used in educational process multimedia lectures on the courses “Theory of Mechanisms and Machines” and “Machine Parts”.
